Melbourne are hoping the bye round acts a circuit breaker so they can restart their faltering NRL season.
After opening the year in their usual impressive style, the Storm have lost their way as well as four of the past five games.
They delivered an improved showing against the Warriors in their Anzac Day clash at AAMI Park but still fell 16-10.
Back-rower Ryan Hinchcliffe said it was another win that they let slip away.
"It was a hard one to take, the effort was really good and we had opportunities to get some points but, for some reason, we couldn't seem to get a try," Hinchcliffe said.
"I don't think we have to do too much different but we just need to do the little things well."
Hinchcliffe said inconsistency among the players was cruelling their chances.
"You think one or two errors is OK but, when everyone makes them, it adds up to a lot."
The Storm have had a torrid start to the season.
Apart from a heavy loss to Canterbury in round four, four of their matches have been decided by two points or less.
Their involvement in the tackle that ended the career of Newcastle's Alex McKinnon, and the subsequent suspension of Jordan McLean, has also taken an emotional toll.
"It's probably been the most hectic eight weeks to start the year that I've had in terms of just how close the games have been," Hinchcliffe said.
"It will be good to have a break because it's been a tough eight weeks without any easy games in there."
He said, on reflection, they could have easily had more than four wins to their name but was confident they would start to find some winning form.
"It's disappointing because you know that, in the games that are tight, you've had opportunities to win them.
"In the past, we've probably been able to win those but, for some reason, we just can't seal the deal."
Melbourne Storm centre Justin O'Neill may need surgery after scans on Saturday found a small fracture in his left ankle.
O'Neill went down in the Warriors clash when his leg became tangled in a tackle as he looked to back-up a teammate after a long break.
He will see a surgeon on Monday to discuss the best course of action, the club says.
O'Neill was playing his fourth match back after surgery on his knee which he injured playing in the Auckland Nines.
Winger Sisa Waqa will have an arthroscope on his left ankle after aggravating an old injury in the match and is expected to miss 3-4 weeks.
