Kings Cross identity Bill Bayeh has pleaded not guilty to assaulting the former wife of colourful businessman Geoffrey Edelsten.

Bayeh was allegedly involved in an argument last month with Mr Edelsten's ex-wife Leanne Nesbitt, who is an intensive care nurse at St Vincent's Hospital in Sydney.

Police allege the 56-year-old pushed Ms Nesbitt in the chest during an incident outside the hospital.

His lawyer formally entered a plea of not guilty in Downing Centre Local Court on Tuesday.

Outside court Bayeh said he would continue to fight the charges.

His lawyer John Hajje told reporters he would also be seeking to vary his client's bail conditions, which restrict Bayeh's movements around Kings Cross.
