Aron Baynes and the Boston Celtics have beaten the Milwaukee Bucks in game seven of their NBA playoffs series to advance to the second round.

On the back of a post-season career high 26 points from guard Terry Rozier and Al Horford's joint playoff best 26 points, the hosts won 112-96.

Jayson Tatum added 20 points while Baynes had eight points and seven minutes in a 15-minute cameo, which included a buzzer-beating jumper to end the first quarter.

"We've been doing this all year. Guys were coming together at different times and making plays, and that's what we did tonight," Horford told NBC Sports Boston.

The Celtics will face the Ben Simmons-led Philadelphia 76ers in the eastern conference semi-finals starting on Monday in Boston.

Khris Middleton had a playoffs career best 32 points for Milwaukee, who hold an unwanted NBA record with nine-straight series losses.

Eric Bledsoe scored 23 points and Giannis Antetokounmpo had 22 points, nine rebounds and five assists for the Bucks.

The influence on Milwaukee's Thon Maker was minimised with the Aussie centre managing five points, six rebounds and four assists in 25 minute while Matthew Dellavedova was used sparingly.

The home team won every game of the best-of-seven series.

Boston's Jaylen Brown exited the game late in the first half with a sore right hamstring.

Klay Thompson scored 11 of his game-high 27 points in a second-quarter flurry that propelled the Golden State Warriors to a 123-101 blowout victory over the New Orleans Pelicans in game one of the western conference semi-finals.

In winning their 13th consecutive playoff game at home, the Warriors again played without injured guard Stephen Curry, who is expected to play in Oakland on Tuesday.

"He'll incorporate himself back in our offense, we don't need to work to get him involved," Warriors star Draymond Green told TNT.

The second-seeded Warriors ran up a franchise-record 76 points in the first half against the sixth-seeded Pelicans.

Kevin Durant had a 26-point, 13-rebound double-double, while Green recorded his fourth career play-offs triple-double with 16 points, 15 rebounds and 11 assists.

Anthony Davis recorded a 21-point, 10-rebound double-double for the Pelicans.
