Beach remains focus of Elisa Curry case

It will take days to test human remains found at a Victorian beach near where Melbourne mum Elisa Curry went missing.

The agonising wait is set to continue for the family of missing Melbourne mum Elisa Curry.

Police on Friday admitted their investigation is focused on human remains found at a Surf Coast beach near Anglesea, just 7km from the Aireys Inlet holiday home where the 43-year-old vanished on grand final weekend.

"The avenue of inquiry is whether the remains are Elisa Curry's," Victoria Police Sergeant Cameron Scott told AAP.

Forensic tests to determine the identity of the remains are underway but results are unlikely to be known before Monday, the officer added.

Since the remains were found on Wednesday morning by a woman walking her dog on O'Donohue Road Beach, there have been no updates to the search for Ms Curry, which was suspended a week after she was last seen.

A neighbour saw her get into bed on the night of September 30 and when her husband and children returned the next day from AFL grand final festivities, she was gone.

Three days after the mysterious disappearance, her husband David Curry fronted media begging for her safe return.

"I and my kids, we just want her to come home. Elisa if you're out there can you please contact us?" Mr Curry said.

Police have kept in regular contact with the family and counselling has been offered.

Extensive air, land and water searches failed to find the avid runner, who is known to regularly jog distances of up to 40km.
