Beazley's daughter to run for federal seat

The daughter of former federal Labor leader Kim Beazley has been preselected to run for her father's old seat of Swan in the next federal election.

Hannah Beazley, the daughter of former federal Labor leader and opposition leader Kim Beazley, has been preselected to run for his old Perth seat of Swan at the next federal election.

The 37 year old, who has worked as a speechwriter and policy adviser to West Australian Premier Mark McGowan since March was selected on Monday to wrest Swan from long-serving Liberal MP Steve Irons, who holds the seat on a margin of 3.6 per cent, The Australian reports.

Previously, Ms Beazley attempted to enter state politics, but failed to win the state seat of Riverton for Labor in 2013.
