Beckham takes a boys trip into the jungle, seeking anonymity

He's achieved great things on the football field, but David Beckham can now tick off another bucket list item - to walk around unrecognised. He had to go into the Amazon rainforest to do it.

As the World Cup approaches Former England football captain David Beckham has been taking on a different Brazilian challenge - in the heart of the Amazon rainforest

A new documentary "David Beckham into the unknown" sees Beckham travel with three friends to Rio de Janeiro and then via motorbike to the rainforest.

Beckham retired last year and has described the experience in the jungle as "humbling" and at times "terrifying".

"For the last 20, 22 years... my life, my career has been on a schedule, so obviously [it's important] to let everybody see myself in a situation that no one has seen me in," Beckham told the BBC.

Describing the adventure as a boy's trip, Beckham said the group travelled so far into the rainforest that he wasn't recognised.

"We ended obviously in the tribe...and that was an experience because no one had a clue who I was," Beckham said.

When asked about England's prospects in the 2014 World Cup the former captain was optimistic.

"I always think that we can go all the way, always. I might be biased but that's me as an Englishman," said Beckham.
