Belgium could be set to lose another key player for the friendly against the Socceroos with captain Vincent Kompany in serious doubt for the match.
The Manchester City skipper and centre-back failed to train with his national teammates in Anderlecht on Wednesday due to a calf injury.
It's understood Kompany will have scans and he won't be risked for Thursday's (Friday morning AEST) clash in Liege unless fully fit.
Kompany is considered one of the world's best defenders and his withdrawal would be a significant boost as the Socceroos bid for their first win since November last year.
Tottenham defender Jan Vertonghen told Australian media he was not sure if his fellow defender would be right to play.
"I hope he's OK, I don't know if he's going to play tomorrow but if he can he'll be there," Vertonghen said.
World Cup quarter-finalists Belgium are already without attacking stars Eden Hazard, Romelu Lukaku and Marouane Fellaini, though their squad still boasts plenty of Premier League talent.
Socceroos coach Ange Postecoglou is missing several players from his World Cup squad but is set to field a strong starting line-up including Tim Cahill and Mile Jedinak.
