Benji named to start for Wests Tigers

Coach Mick Potter has named Benji Marshall to play in an unchanged Wests Tigers line-up against the Warriors this Friday.

Benji Marshall seeking Tigers release

Benji Marshall is seeking a release from the final two years of his contract with the Wests Tigers.

Wests Tigers five-eighth Benji Marshall has been named to start against the Warriors this Friday night despite the star playmaker asking for a release from his NRL contract.

The Tigers have been rocked by Marshall's request for a release from the final two years of his contract, with Super Rugby clubs the NSW Waratahs and Auckland Blues both vying for his signature.

Yet the disruption wasn't enough to see coach Mick Potter drop Marshall from an unchanged line-up; Blues prop Aaron Woods was also named despite just a two day turnaround from State of Origin.

Meanwhile, Warriors coach Matthew Elliott has named a 21-man squad for the Leichhardt Oval clash with rampaging winger Manu Vatuvei back from a shin injury.

Rabbitohs coach Michael Maguire has named an unchanged side for Monday night's clash against St George Illawarra, while the Dragons will welcome back NSW fullback Josh Dugan in a shuffled backline that sees Adam Quinlan slot to five-eighth and Chase Stanley to centre alongside Matt Cooper.

Manly are hoping to regain Origin interchange players Daly Cherry-Evans and Anthony Watmough for Sunday's match against the Titans, Jamie Lyon moving back into the centres at the expense of Peter Hiku.

Despite a four day turnaround from Origin, Titans coach John Cartwright hasn't named Nate Myles or Greg Bird in his 18-man squad, but they'll be buoyed by the returns of David Taylor, Beau Falloon and Brad Takairangi from injury. .

The Titans have also named Jamie Dowling at centre and moved Jordan Rankin to fullback to cover for an injured William Zillman.

The Sharks have named Blues forwards Andrew Fifita and Luke Lewis in a 19-man squad to take on the Roosters at Brookvale Oval on Saturday night, with Chad Townsend in for an injured Jeff Robson (calf) at halfback.

The Roosters have slightly rejigged their squad that thumped the Dragons in round 17, with Roger Tuivasa-Sheck returning to the wing, Shaun Kenny-Dowall moving to centre and Mitch Aubusson sliding Issac Liu off the bench to 18th man.

Meanwhile Newcastle second-rower Beau Scott will return to the starting side for Sunday's away clash against Penrith after missing Round 17 for the birth of his son.

The Panthers have likewise tweaked their forward pack, Lewis Brown coming off the bench to replace Matt Robinson (neck) and Mose Masoe moving to prop for Nigel Plum.
