Bennett unconcerned by Knights' ASADA link

Newcastle coach Wayne Bennett says ASADA has told the Knights they're not under investigation.

Wayne Bennett claims Newcastle have nothing to hide from ASADA and have been cleared of any wrongdoing by the anti-doping authority.

News Limited reported on Sunday that the results of five players contracted to the club in 2010 and 2011 were found to be suspicious for peptide use.

The report claimed ASADA opted to re-analyse the Newcastle test results after allegedly receiving information suggesting some players discussed using an undetectable form of human growth hormone.

Eleven current and ex-Newcastle players have received ASADA interview notices to help the probe into possible supplements misuse at Newcastle, including star five-eighth Jarrod Mullen and utility back Kevin Naiqama.

Ex-Cronulla forwards Kade Snowden and Jeremy Smith have also been notified along with former Knights stars Wes Naiqama (Penrith), Cameron Ciraldo (Penrith) and Richie Fa'aoso (Manly).

However, Bennett said the report had no affect on his side's preparations ahead of Sunday's 23-10 loss to Melbourne at Hunter Stadium.

And the veteran coach said he's no concerns about any of his players helping with ASADA's inquiries.

"I didn't read it (the report) today but I have been told," Bennett said.

"The club's not under investigation. It's been told that by ASADA it's not under investigation.

"I've got no control of what happened before or what has been suggested that happened.

"There's that many rumours going around, but from a club point of view we've been up before ASADA and have no case to answer and it's a headline today."
