Gold Logie nominee Carrie Bickmore has become so used to co-hosting The Project with Charlie Pickering that sometimes she forgets he is there.
Pickering will co-host The Project for the last time next Monday.
He quit the Network Ten show last month and will leave after almost five years behind the desk.
His departure follows Dave Hughes leaving the show last year.
Bickmore says she is very sad to see Pickering go and the pair will remain friends.
"Dave, Charlie and I built the show up together - having Dave leave was hard enough and now having Charlie leave it's like, `oh, my little network, my little buddies are gone'.
"But, you know, I think change can be a good thing too.
"I am going to embrace the change and go with it and they'll be friends for life."
Bickmore says she has become very comfortable working with Pickering and it will be very different doing the show without him.
"Having him next to me, you know, I don't even notice some nights that he's there and I mean that in a really positive way," she says.
"We just work so well together that we just finish each other's sentences."
Comedian Peter Helliar replaced Hughes but Ten has confirmed that there will not be a permanent third host of the evening show.
Instead, guests panellists like Andrew Rochford, Steve Price, Todd Sampson and Steve Vizard will appear more frequently.
Pickering made his decision late last year saying he wanted to find new challenges.
"As a stand-up comedian I have never planned to do one thing for five years, let alone five days a week," he said in a statement.
