The Australian Customs and Border Protection Service has seized a large shipment of illegal ivory in Perth.
110-kilograms of ivory, which had been on its way from Malawi to Malaysia, has been handed to the Department of the Environment for further investigations.
Customs' Regional Commander for Western Australia, Rod O'Donnell, says there are acts in place to strictly regulate the export and import of wildlife products.
He told Van Nguyen if an Australian if found guilty, the potential penalty is imprisonment or a hefty fine.
