The former national president of the Comancheros bikie gang will remain behind bars after allegedly being caught boarding a chartered flight with more than $60,000 in cash.

Mark Douglas Buddle, 30, was on the private flight which was allegedly set to fly him from Victoria to Noumea when it stopped in Newcastle to refuel.

On arrival, Buddle was stopped by Custom officers who searched his baggage and allegedly found more than $60,000 of undeclared money.

The 30-year-old was arrested and charged with dealing with the suspected proceeds of crime and moving more than $10,000 out of Australia without reporting it.

He was refused bail when he appeared at Newcastle Local Court on Wednesday and is due to reappear via audio visual link next month.
