A high-ranking member of the Lone Wolf outlaw motorcycle gang has been charged over a naked home invasion in Sydney's west.

Police allege the 38-year-old took illicit drugs at his home in Luddenham on Tuesday evening before arming himself with a pistol, firing it into the air and then entering a house nearby - all while naked.

He has been charged with a number of offences including fire firearm in public place and break and enter with intent to steal.

He remains under police guard in Nepean Hospital.
