Bikies set to comply with police demands

The Adelaide chapter of the Mongols bikie gang is set to comply with police demands to remove fortification at its local clubrooms.

The Mongols bikie gang is set to comply with police demands to remove structures protecting the club's Adelaide compound.

Police demands to remove a reinforced steel gate, railway sleeper fences, a steel cage structure and other items came before the Adelaide Magistrates Court on Wednesday.

Their application argued that the structures amounted to "heavy fortification" in contradiction of anti-fortification laws.

Counsel for the Mongols, Craig Caldicott, asked the court for a three-week adjournment to allow for a settlement to be negotiated.

He said he expected most of the issues to be resolved in that time.

Solicitor General Martin Hinton agreed to the delay but said he also wanted to be ready to proceed and expected to call 10 witnesses if the matter went to a hearing.

"I'm confident we'll get to a negotiated outcome," Mr Hinton said.

"But I don't want to take my foot off either."

Magistrate Simon Smart adjourned the case until December 12 for mention with a hearing, if necessary, to be scheduled in the new year.
