A teenager at the centre of a New Zealand road rage attack by a bikini-clad woman which went viral has been arrested.
The 19-year-old woman was arrested after speaking with police on Tuesday, not long after the video of the attack went viral on Facebook.
She has been charged with assaulting a woman on the Ewen Bridge in Lower Hutt on Sunday, says Senior Sergeant Carolyn McKenzie.
The video shows the blonde woman, clad in a bikini and brandishing what looks like a screwdriver, approaching an Asian woman before asking her if she knows how to drive, accusing her of cutting her off and demanding to see her driver's licence.
After the short, angry conversation she is seen hitting the Asian woman in the face.
"The video serves as a useful reminder that people need to keep their cool out on the roads this summer," Snr Sgt McKenzie said.
"Brandishing a weapon and assaulting someone is not acceptable and police will pursue charges."
The woman will appear in Hutt Valley District Court on January 28.
The victim has still to come forward.
