Bill Shorten's mum farewelled

A line-up of Labor figures has joined Opposition Leader Bill Shorten to farewell his mother.

Opposition Leader Bill Shorten has farewelled his mother at a funeral in Melbourne.

Dr Ann Shorten died on April 6 and was given an ecumenical funeral at Xavier College in Kew on Tuesday.

Mr Shorten and his twin brother Robert gave eulogies at the private ceremony, which was attended by a number of political figures.

Last year's leadership rival Anthony Albanese, Tony Burke, Mark Dreyfus, Simon Crean and former speaker Anna Burke attended, along with Jeanne Pratt, widow of late billionaire Richard Pratt.
