St Kilda young gun Jack Billings will be sidelined for at least another month following further scans on his injured shin.

The Saints were hoping for Billings to return soon but the club said they now needed to take their time with the talented teenager.

Saints physiotherapist Andrew Wallis said the midfielder-cum-forward wasn't suffering from a stress fracture, rather a stress response that needed to be treated with caution.

"We are just going to take our time with Jack," Wallis told Saints.com.au.

"He'll miss four to six weeks but we will see how he progresses through."

St Kilda didn't pick up any new injuries in their big win over Essendon and could have 19-year-old utility Blake Acres available as early as next week after undergoing surgery on his broken hand.

"Blake has progressed really well and has his cast off already," Wallis said.
