A tradie who claimed to be a "billionaire" when he was pulled over in a luxury sports car failed to front court last month because of mental health issues, a court has heard.

Prosecutors told the Brisbane Magistrates Court on Wednesday that Phillip Johnathan Harrison was not in a "mental state" in May to answer questions about his failure to appear in court.

The tradie, who has more than $590 million in the bank, will remain behind bars until his next court appearance on June 22.
