Besieged Queensland MP Billy Gordon, under investigation for domestic violence, has been accused of playing the victim.

Mr Gordon has called on the police, parliament and the Child Support Agency to investigate Opposition Leader Lawrence Springborg after his office handed the media private documents relating to his child support payments.

The Cook MP quit the Labor party last month amid controversy surrounding unpaid child support, domestic abuse allegations and undisclosed criminal convictions.

But the now-independent member has labelled Mr Springborg a "political grub" who released the information, which included his children's names, "in his ugly drive to become Queensland Premier".

Mr Springborg has fired back, accusing Mr Gordon of playing the victim while he sidesteps the main issues surrounding the saga.

"Billy Gordon is not the victim here," Mr Springborg said.

"He did not pay thousands of dollars of child support on time in accordance as his obligations as a father (and) is the one who has the questions to answer."

Mr Springborg said he gave the private documents to the media as background - not for publication - and they weren't published anyway.

"The media and the opposition have a very, very important role to play in keeping governments honest," he said.

Mr Springborg said the attacks on him from Mr Gordon and Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk were a "smokescreen" to cover up the fact that they both last month lied to parliament when they said the matter had been dealt with.

Ms Palaszczuk said she backed Mr Gordon's approach, criticising the Liberal National Party for releasing private information.

"If they are prepared to stoop to an all-time low and start revealing people's confidential details, privacy details about children, where is it going to end?" she asked.

Mr Gordon said he was disgusted in Mr Springborg's actions.

"How would he feel if his political opponents used his children's confidential details as smear tactics?" Mr Gordon said.

"I will do everything I can to hold this man to account for his actions, which have grievously hurt me and my young children, whom I love dearly."

A police investigation into the domestic abuse allegations against Mr Gordon, currently one of three crossbenchers in the hung parliament, is still ongoing.
