Bishop condemns Palestine teen murder

Foreign Minister Julie Bishop is urging Israel and Palestine to refrain from violence and revenge attacks condemning the murder of a East Jerusalem teen.

Australia has condemned the murder of an East Jerusalem teenager, calling for calm from Israel and Palestine and for those responsible to be brought to justice.

Palestine holds Israel responsible for the teenager's murder, whose body was found in a forest west of Jerusalem, in a suspected revenge attack for the killing of three Israelis.

Foreign Minister Julie Bishop again urged both sides to refrain from violence on Thursday, two days after condemning the murder of the Israeli teens.

She said the perpetrators of the Palestinian's murder must be also held to account.

"The senseless killing of innocent children is appalling and I reiterate the Australian government's condemnation of all acts of violence against innocent civilians," Ms Bishop said in a statement.

"It is vital that all parties refrain from acts of violence and vengeance that risk further destabilising negotiations for a peaceful two state solution."
