Foreign Minister Julie Bishop has discussed with her Malaysian counterpart the new aircraft debris found on Reunion Island, but has no further insights.

Malaysia says a wing part, called a flaperon, found earlier is certainly part of the missing MH370 and Foreign Minister Anifah Aman says the seat cushions and window panes have been sent to France for analysis.

"I think it's important for us to allow the investigation team to conduct their analysis and ensure that if it is part of the plane, the announcement is made as soon as possible," Ms Bishop told reporters after Friday's meeting.
