Bishop talks intern plan, bags Intern Pete

Julie Bishop has bagged KISS FM's Intern Pete while trying to sell the government's paid intern plan that some have labelled as being potentially illegal.

Deputy Liberal leader Julie Bishop has tried to spruik the government's controversial paid intern plan while simultaneously berating KISS FM's own Intern Pete.

"He doesn't get any better does he? I think you're going to be an intern for a lot longer now," Bishop joked as she walked into the studio.

Kyle and Jackie O's intern has made a series of embarrassing mistakes when meeting the minister in the past.

"Perhaps Pete could be the mentor of what not to do... how not to be an intern," she said.

The $830 million plan has been criticised by union groups for potentially creating $4-hour jobs and labelled as being potentially illegal.
