Bjorn reminded of Ryder Cup tattoo pledge

Europe captain Thomas Bjorn will pay a personal price for his side's emphatic Ryder Cup victory over the United States.

Europe's Ryder Cup captain Thomas Bjorn got all his decisions right at Le Golf National for his team to win the Ryder Cup.

Except one.

The Dane, it seems, had promised to get himself tattooed if Europe triumphed against the United States - a pledge which provided additional motivation for his players.

There were plenty of inside jokes about the tattoo and what the image could be at a news conference with all 12 players after Europe's 17.5-10.5 victory over the Americans.

Ian Poulter said the tattoo would feature the score of the match.

In a reference to the captain's lack of hair, Rory McIlroy joked: "There could be a visit to a tattoo parlour coming soon for Mr Bjorn on his head."

But Bjorn suggested a more private part would be reserved for the ink, while not giving much away.

"Let me put it this way, it's going to go on a part that only (girlfriend) Grace will see," he said.

"I might have to send them a picture. Well, then you'll all see it as well, I guess. The worst decision I made all week."
