Ross Taylor believes his tired New Zealand side can lift one more time and create history in the fifth and final one-day international against India.
With the series locked 2-2, the Black Caps can become the first New Zealand team to secure a series win in any format on Indian soil in Visakhapatnam on Saturday.
They have reached this point twice previously in India, before losing the fifth and deciding game, in 1995 and 1999.
The only other five-match ODI stoush was their most recent visit, when they were swept 5-0 in 2010, making it 10 winless ODI series on Indian soil.
That New Zealand are even in this position is a testament to the team's fortitude, Taylor said.
After losing the Test series 3-0 and getting thrashed in the first ODI in Dharamsala, it appeared the tourists' long drought in India would continue.
"I think it shows a lot of character, from not only the players but the management," Taylor said.
"We have been on the road for a long time but we've got three more days to get ourselves up for a very crucial match.
"You don't often win series away from home, especially in the subcontinent."
Former skipper Taylor will be desperate to play his part, having struggled in both series.
The 32-year-old averaged less than 15 in the Tests and has been solid but unspectacular with 100 runs from his four knocks this series.
Batting conditions haven't been easy, most notably during their 19-run win in Ranchi on Wednesday when the pitch slowed markedly, making his 35 an important knock.
