Adam Blair has never been one to shy away from a scrap and the combination of an Anzac Day NRL clash with a bye to follow has him excited.
The Broncos forward, who has recovered from what he described as the worst cork of his career, has forecast a bruising Anzac Day meeting with Parramatta on Saturday at Suncorp Stadium.
The magnitude of the occasion was part of it, but Blair said the week off to follow meant there was added reason for Broncos players to leave nothing in the tank.
"It's about putting your body on the line, this game," he said on Wednesday.
"Everyone's got a week off so it's essentially a game where you can do everything you can for your teammates."
There's every chance that if Blair does that, he'll rob himself of the break he's looking forward to as he will likely play himself into New Zealand's Test team for the next weekend.
Blair tried to play down that likelihood, saying his recent injury woes meant he was no certainty.
"One job at a time," he said. "That's the highlight, if you do get picked in the squad."
"But I've been out for a bit so I'm just going to go out there and just do my job for the club first."
The 29-year-old was a shock inclusion for Brisbane last Friday, playing off the bench in their 12-10 loss to St George Illawarra.
The Kiwi enforcer was confident the worst of the injury was behind him, having struggled to walk for two weeks after copping the initial knock against the Warriors.
"It was a bit of a punish," he said.
"The leg seems to be better quickly.
"Last week it came along really well later in the week and it seems to be getting better every day."
The inconsistent Eels beat Newcastle 28-22 on Sunday but despite sitting second from bottom on the ladder, Brisbane co-captain Corey Parker has warned his teammates they cannot be taken lightly.
"We've had some great battles with Parramatta over the years and they've pulled our pants down a few times," Parker said.
"That's how we've got to approach the game.
"They're a side that on their day can match it with anyone."
