Brianna Davey will officially line up for Collingwood next year after becoming the third AFLW skipper to switch clubs this off-season.

The Blues will receive the Magpies' first four picks in this year's draft, including pick No.2, in exchange for Davey and a swap of later selections.

Bulldogs co-captain Katie Brennan joined Richmond earlier this month, along with Monique Conti, while Brisbane captain Leah Kaslar departed for Gold Coast.

Davey's long-anticipated cross-town trade capped off a flurry of player movement over the past fortnight, driven by the addition of four expansion clubs next season.

Teams also have the opportunities to sign eligible players during a five-day free agency period before Tuesday's deadline.

Davey, who was Carlton's best and fairest winner and led them to the grand final last season, said she was grateful to the Blues for providing her AFLW start.

"I can't thank Carlton enough for giving me my first opportunity in AFLW colours," the former Matildas goalkeeper said.

"The club has such a genuine approach to women's football and I wouldn't be playing at the standard I am today without their support."

The Blues have resigned the majority of their players, including stars Tayla Harris and Darcy Vescio.

"Brianna was a good player at our football club during her time here and brought a lot to Carlton during the first three seasons of our program," coach Daniel Harford said.

"This group was so close to the ultimate success last season and to take the next step we need a fully committed playing group, striving for the same goal."
