Blues beat Hurricanes in Super Rugby trial

The Blues have come away with a 32-29 win over the Hurricanes in Auckland in their final Super Rugby pre-season match.

The Blues have beaten the Hurricanes 32-29 in the teams' final hitout before the start of the Super Rugby season.

The Hurricanes went down despite scoring five tries to three, including a brace to openside flanker Ardie Savea.

Savea's fellow loose forward teammates Blade Thomson and Brad Shields also managed to get among the tries at North Harbour's QBE Stadium.

But the Blues were able to grind out a win, with Isaia West and Simon Hickey kicking 17 points between them.

The Hurricanes will head to South Africa, where they open their season against the Lions in Johannesburg early on February 14 (AEDT).

The Blues are back at North Harbour later that day for their round-one match against the Chiefs.
