Blues boss urges fans to keep faith in AFL

Carlton's appalling first half on the weekend against Fremantle has Blues fans worried.

Carlton president Mark LoGuidice has urged Blues fans to keep the faith, saying the AFL strugglers have hit the hardest part of their rebuild.

The Blues only managed seven points in the first half of Saturday's 57-point walloping from Fremantle, heightening concerns among supporters about whether their team is on the right track.

Carlton only have one win this season and now run into arch-rivals Collingwood, who are riding a four-game winning streak that has propelled them into the top eight.

They last made the finals in 2013 and have only won two of their last 22 games under coach Brendon Bolton, who is in his third season.

"We always said we were going to three drafts. We always knew this year was going to be the toughest year because it's the year that we would have the most amount of new players on our list," LoGuidice told the Herald Sun.

"I feel it as much as everyone does, our board feels it as much as everyone else does, we're all Carlton supporters and members, we all feel it, but we must back the plan we started with."

LoGuidice also said the Blues would continue to back Bolton and other key personnel at the embattled club.

"This year has been a little bit tougher than expected because we've had injuries as well - not excuses, these are just reasons," he said.

"It's not a surprise and performances like that at the weekend are hard to cop.

"But we are backing our plan and the people in it 110 per cent."
