Blues' Daley coy on Walker strategy

Blues coach Laurie Daley won't divulge his plans for controversial bench utility choice Dylan Walker in State of Origin game 2.

NSW coach Laurie Daley is refusing to giving anything about how controversial selection Dylan Walker will be employed in State of Origin II, except that he won't start.

Daley was heavily criticised following debutant Walker's fruitless nine-minute cameo in game one, when the bench utility made a critical error with one of just two touches he had in the loss.

Critics were again unhappy when Walker was selected in the No.14 jumper on Monday night as Daley made just one change to his team which faces the daunting task of levelling the series at Brisbane's Suncorp Stadium.

But the under-pressure coach offered little when asked if Walker would be utilised differently in the must-win game on Wednesday week.

"You'll have to find out," Daley said on the first day of camp on Tuesday.

Walker enjoyed one of the finest 40-minute performances of his career in Manly's last-start NRL loss to Penrith on Sunday, posting 16 points alone with two tries and three goals.

There were suggestions Walker would be promoted into the three-quarter line ahead of right centre Josh Morris, however Daley insisted the Canterbury centre would remain in the starting line-up.

Daley was delighted with Walker's outing against the Panthers.

"He played really well and that's the Dylan that we know. Josh will be right centre and Dylan will come off the bench," he said.

Daley's comments come after Walker embraced the challenge of making an impact in his second game.

"I was trying to make an impact (in game one), but it's pretty hard to do it in 10 minutes," Walker said.

"People can point the finger and blame me, but I look at it as a challenge.

"I really enjoyed my time there. It was an awesome feeling and a great experience I never want to forget."
