Blues, Tigers trim AFL playing lists

AFL clubs have continued to trim their playing lists, with Carlton ruckman Robbie Warnock among the casualties.

Carlton ruckman Robert Warnock was among the casualties on Wednesday as AFL clubs continued to trim their lists ahead of November's draft.

The Blues had high hopes for Warnock when they lured him away from Fremantle at the end of 2008 but he struggled to get a clear run free of injury.

The 28-year-old managed just two games this season, for a career total of 88, and was delisted along with Nick Holman and rookies Tom Fields and Brad Walsh.

Carlton are in the middle of a major overhaul of their playing stocks following the appointment of new coach Brendon Bolton.

Chris Judd, Andrew Carrazzo and David Ellard all retired this year, while Chris Yarran, Troy Menzel, Lachie Henderson and Tom Bell were traded out.

Former first-round draft pick Matthew Watson was among the first cuts made last month by list manager Stephen Silvagni.

In other player moves around the league, Richmond delisted Matt Dea and Nathan Gordon, while former Port Adelaide onballer Matt Thomas announced his retirement after 87 games with the Power and 15 with the Tigers.

Adelaide parted ways with forward Matthew Wright after 94 games in six years with the club.

Essendon delisted former first-round draft pick Elliott Kavanagh and luckless midfielder Alex Browne on Tuesday.
