The AFLW has its first father-daughter recruit, Carlton using the rule for the first time to land Andrew McKay's daughter Abbie for the 2019 season.
McKay received interest from several clubs but will join the Blues with the club's second-round selection, 16th overall, at the AFLW draft on October 23.
Andrew McKay played 244 games for Carlton between 1993 and 2003 and recently left the football department chief role he had held at the club since 2011.
Abbie, 17, plays with the Sandringham Dragons in the TAC Cup girls competition and impressed at the draft combine recently held at Marvel Stadium.
"It is very exciting to see the first father-daughter selection," AFLW chief Nicole Livingstone said.
