Police are investigating after a body was found in a disused mine in Victoria's north.

Homicide detectives are investigating how a body ended up at a disused mine in Victoria's north.

The body was discovered inside a disused mine shaft in Whroo on Saturday by prospectors.

Police on Sunday said they are treating the case as suspicious.
