Body found in search for missing kayaker

A body has been found in the search for a kayaker reported missing after his pet dog was spotted on a kayak in a Gold Coast canal.

The body of a missing paddler has been found a day after his frantic dog was spotted floating alone on his kayak on a Gold Coast canal.

The 31-year-old kayaker set out for a paddle with his pet dog about 7am on Tuesday at Broadbeach Waters, with a woman spotting the "distressed" canine on his kayak in the canal about an hour later.

A major air and water search was launched, with his body being found on Wednesday.
