Body of free diver found at Sydney beach

The body of a man who went missing while free-diving off a Sydney beach has been recovered, police say.

A man's body has been recovered after he disappeared free diving at a beach in Sydney's south.

The man, understood to be in his 30s, was free diving with a partner at Brighton-Le-Sands when he failed to surface at around 7pm on Monday, police say.

Water police and surf lifesavers conducted a search of the area near Brighton Bar. The man's body was located at about 8.30pm, according to police.

A report will be prepared for the coroner.
