Body of man in NSW river identified

The body of a man discovered on the NSW north coast, near Port Macquarie, has been identified, police say.

The body of a man found on the NSW north coast has been identified, police say.

A search was launched along the Hastings River, near Port Macquarie, on Thursday night when a witness told police he had seen a man being taken out to sea by the river's current.

His body was discovered at Queens Head on Friday afternoon.

Police say forensic testing on Saturday identified him as a 39-year-old Lakewood man.

His family has been notified.
