NSW Health has confirmed a bogus doctor worked at six hospitals in Sydney and the Central Coast, not four as was previously reported.

NSW Health has admitted a bogus doctor worked at an additional two hospitals during the decade he spent posing as Indian practitioner Dr Sarang Chitale.

It was revealed earlier this month that Shyam Acharya allegedly stole the Indian doctor's identity and duped Australian authorities to work at Manly, Hornsby, Gosford and Wyong hospitals between 2003 and 2014.
Now health authorities say Acharya also did infrequent shifts at Mona Vale Hospital between January 2008 and February 2013, and worked at Royal North Shore Hospital in November 2012.

"To date, 41 individual inquiries have been received from people who believed they may have been treated by Mr Acharya during his time at Manly, Hornsby, Gosford and Wyong hospitals," NSW Health deputy secretary Karen Crawshaw said in a statement on Thursday.

"Of these, three have been confirmed as having been treated by him and their cases will be referred to the (independent) inquiry."

Authorities have identified a further three patients who were treated by Acharya - one previously reported case at Manly Hospital and two new cases at Mona Vale Hospital.

"There have been no adverse outcomes associated with these two (later) incidents," a NSW health spokesperson said on Thursday.

The real Dr Chitale is a respected specialist practising north of Manchester in the UK.

Australian authorities are trying to track down Acharya, believed to be hiding in India, to face a Sydney court on charges of posing as a doctor.

NSW Health has set up a website for people to make submissions to the independent inquiry, Ms Crawshaw said.

A dedicated phone line is available for anyone concerned they or someone they know might have been treated by Acharya.
