Bogut gives Cavs NBA coach a good headache

LeBron James says when Andrew Bogut suits up for the Cavaliers on Tuesday (AEDT) he will add extra dimensions to the already talented reigning NBA champions.

Cleveland Cavaliers' coach Tyronn Lue is excited about Andrew Bogut joining his NBA squad, but he admits the big Australian's arrival will cause him some problems.

Not bad problems.

Good problems.

The big spending Cavaliers, with a player payroll skyrocketing to more than $US130 million ($A171 million) and well over the $US94 million ($A124 million) salary cap, will have 12 players that would likely start on other NBA teams.

"I don't know how I'm going to use all of these people I got yet," Lue told reporters.

As well as adding Bogut, who is expected to play his first game for the Cavaliers against the Miami Heat in Cleveland on Monday (Tuesday AEDT), the team also signed the Australian centre's former Dallas Mavericks teammate, point guard Deron Williams.

In January the Cavaliers also signed Atlanta Hawks three-point specialist Kyle Korver and expect to have All-Star forward Kevin Love and shooting guard JR Smith back from injury soon.

Lue largely relied on a rotation of just seven players in last year's successful NBA championship series victory over Bogut's former Golden State Warriors.

"It's going to be a process, but it's a great process to have when we've got great players and a roster of 12 guys that should be playing," Lue said.

"That's always a good thing to happen."

Cavaliers' leader LeBron James says Bogut will add new dimensions to a team loaded with former number one NBA picks, All-Stars and veterans.

"Boges is going to add a lot to our team," James said.

"Not only protecting the paint, but also screening and also his ability to pass the ball.

"He is going to give us another playmaker so it helps out a lot."
