With his shoulder injury woes behind him, Boomers centre Andrew Bogut returned from a seven-game NBA absence as his Golden State Warriors downed Detroit 104-96 on Monday night.

Bogut showed signs of rust, hitting just one of his five shots, but managed nearly 30 minutes in his comeback game, grabbing seven boards, four assists and four points before fouling out.

The Warriors, behind a 19-point, nine assist and eight rebound game by star guard Stephen Curry, improved their record to be 35-22 in the hotly-contested Western Conference.

The Warriors were still without Bogut's front court partner David Lee, who has been dealing with a stomach flu.

In New York, Dirk Nowitzki's 19-foot jumper bounced up and then fell in as time expired, giving the Dallas Mavericks a 110-108 victory over the New York Knicks.

The Mavericks blew an eight-point lead in the final 90 seconds, then pulled out their third straight victory.

Carmelo Anthony had 44 points and nine rebounds for the Knicks.

He played strong defence on the Mavericks' final possession, but was left standing in disbelief long after the buzzer after Nowitzki's shot appeared to hit the backboard first, then the front rim, then bounced up before dropping.

Meanwhile, Milwaukee thrashed the lowly Philadelphia 76ers 130-11, to had the NBA's worst team their 11th straight loss.

Elsewhere, the Los Angeles Clippers beat New Orleans 123-110 and Boston fell 110-98 to the Utah Jazz.
