Andrew Bogut will turn his focus to helping the Golden State Warriors to the NBA playoffs after securing his future with the franchise with a new three-year deal reportedly worth up to $44 million.
The Boomers centre's current contract with the Warriors was due to expire at the end of the new NBA season which starts next week, and Bogut's impending free agency had been the source of much speculation.
But Golden State General Manager Bob Myers announced on Saturday the franchise had come to terms on a new three-year deal with Bogut that US media reported was worth $US36 million ($A38 million) over the three years and with incentives could reach as much as $US42 million ($A44 million).
Bogut said he was delighted to settle his future ahead of the start of the new season.
"I am so happy to get this deal done and want to personally thank Bob Myers and the Warriors owners, Joe Lacob and Peter Guber, for believing in me as a person and my skills on the court," Bogut said on the Golden State website.
"I absolutely love living in the Bay Area and playing in front of our incredible fans. I've said all along that this is where I want to be long term and now I look forward to starting the season and working with my teammates and coaches to continue building on the foundation that we laid last year.
Myers greeted the news of Bogut's re-signing as "a great day for the Warriors".
"We're very happy to know that Andrew will be our centre beyond this season as we continue to progress as a team," he said.
"Andrew possesses a wide-ranging skill set that makes him a great fit alongside the other core pieces that we have assembled on our roster. He is still just 28 years old and has established himself as one of the premier centres in the NBA. He is a leader on our team and was a key part of our success during last season's playoff run."
With Bogut returning to top form after battling to overcome an ankle injury the Warriors progressed through to the second round of last season's playoffs.
Golden State's impressive end to the season, a re-jigged roster and the promising pre-season form of the 28-year-old Bogut has some predicting the Warriors will challenge Miami for the NBA crown this year as the Heat chase their third successive finals victory.
Bogut, the No.1 draft pick in 2005 with Milwaukee, has missed large chunks of the last two seasons through ankle, wrist and elbow injuries. But the 213cm centre is hopefully he has finally left his wretched run with injuries behind him.
Bogut begins the new season with career averages of 12.2 points, 9.2 rebounds, 2.3 assists, 1.58 blocks and 32.1 minutes in 440 career regular-season games over eight seasons with the Milwaukee and Golden State.
