Andrew Bogut and the Golden State Warriors' champagne-soaked NBA championship party has continued with a parade through the streets of Oakland.

About 500,000 Warriors fans dressed in yellow and blue lined the route through the San Francisco Bay city on Friday to celebrate the club's first title in 40 years.

Bogut, the 213cm tall centre from Melbourne, is hard to miss in any crowd, but with the shaggy hairdo and beard he grew throughout the triumphant playoff run trimmed down after Tuesday's title-clinching win, he looked like a new man.

"I saw all kinds of crazy stuff," Bogut, addressing the crowd at the end of the parade, said.

"I saw a guy hanging off a traffic pole. I saw a guy in a tree. We appreciate you all."

The Warriors defeated the Cleveland Cavaliers, led by basketball's best player LeBron James and their Australian cult-hero Matthew Dellavedova, 4-2 in the best-of-seven finals series.

Warriors forward Draymond Green, who poured champagne on fans along the parade route and probably drank a bit too, caused a bit of controversy when he performed a rap for a TV interview and declared the Cavaliers "suck".

Bogut, who did not play the last two games because Warriors coach Steve Kerr opted to go with a smaller line-up, paid tribute to how the team was willing to sacrifice.

Kerr, winning the title in his first year as an NBA coach, joked how he had teach prolific guards Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson how to shoot, the outspoken Green how to be "confident, rational and talk trash" and Bogut "how to be the best defensive centre in the league".

The Warriors also promised their fans back-to-back championships.

"We're going to keep winning these championships, and that's no lie," Green said.
