P - Andrew Bogut's Golden State Warriors have notched their 40th win of the season as they beat the New York Knicks 106-92 at Madison Square Garden.

Centre Bogut made a steady contribution for the Western Conference leaders as they bounced back from a tough loss to Eastern Conference leaders Atlanta and extended their record to 40-9 approaching the All-Star break.

The Australian scored seven points, pulled down seven rebounds and provided three assists in his 18 minutes.

Draymond Green had 20 points and 13 rebounds while Stephen Curry scored 22 points for the Warriors.

Langston Galloway scored 15 points for the Knicks, who gave Carmelo Anthony a night off and lost their third straight.

Elsewhere, Dirk Nowitzki capped a late rally with a 3-pointer that forced overtime and his Dallas Mavericks went on to beat Portland 111-101, moving onto the Trail Blazers' tail in the tight fight for playoff positions in the Western Conference.

Damian Lillard scored 26 points for the Blazers.

The Mavericks now have one more win than the Blazers, but Portland have a greater winning percentage and the comfort of leading the Northwest Division by eight-and-a-half games.

Chicago routed New Orleans to regain leadership of the Central Division, but remained half a game behind Washington in the Eastern Conference after the Wizards crushed Brooklyn.

Chicago capitalised on an injury to New Orleans' star Anthony Davis by pulling away and beating the Pelicans 107-72.

Davis injured himself by showboating after an alley-oop dunk.

Davis' body swung like a pendulum as he held the rim, then the 6-foot-10 forward fell horizontally as he lost his grip, falling hard onto the court and injuring his right shoulder.

Meanwhile, Washington ended a five-game losing skid by cruising past Brooklyn 114-77.

And Milwaukee made it six wins in seven games by beating Boston 96-93, with Brandon Knight scoring 26 points.

Utah's Gordon Hayward scored 30 points in a 102-90 win against Sacramento.

Philadelphia's Robert Covington scored 11 of his 22 points in a pivotal third quarter which set up an 89-81 victory over Charlotte.
