Boks Botha out for Super Rugby season

South African and Bulls flanker Arno Botha will be out for the whole Super Rugby season after seriously hurting the same knee he injured eight months ago.

South African flanker Arno Botha will miss the entire Super Rugby season after hurting his left knee in his comeback match from a serious injury last year.

The Bulls said Botha would be out for at least six months with anterior cruciate ligament damage to the same knee suffered in Saturday's loss to the Stormers in a pre-season game.

Scans have confirmed the injury and the 22-year-old Botha will have surgery on Tuesday.

He previously ruptured ligaments in the knee in his second Test for South Africa last June and had to have surgery then.

World Cup-winning Springboks lock Victor Matfield also made his comeback in Saturday's game after more than two years in retirement, playing off the bench in the Bulls' 26-19 loss.
