The remarkable Usain Bolt again relegated controversial American Justin Gatlin to the silver-medal position in the men's 200m final at the world championships on Thursday night.
Bolt had the race at his mercy halfway down the final straight before going on to win in 19.55 seconds.
Gatlin, the 33-year-old American who has served two doping bans, was second in 19.74 and Anaso Jobodwana was third in a South African record of 19.87.
The 100m showdown between Bolt and Gatlin earlier in the championships was billed as a sporting version of good versus evil, with Bolt saving the sport's blushes by edging the American by one hundredth of a second.
The 200m carries less prestige, but it is an event where Bolt has historically been even more dominant.
And so it proved on Thursday night as he claimed a record 10th world title and third 100m-200m double.
Bolt has now won 11 of the past 12 major sprint titles, with his only miss coming when he false-started in the 100m final at the 2011 world championships.
American sprint queen Allyson Felix remains one behind Bolt on the list of world championships gold medals after claiming her ninth with a dominant victory in the 400m at the Bird's Nest.
Felix streeted the field on both bends and won in a personal best time of 49.26, becoming the first woman to win world titles in the 200m and 400m.
The minor medals went to Shaunae Miller from the Bahamas (49.67) and Jamaican Shericka Jackson (49.99).
American Christian Taylor moved to second place on the alltime list with a massive 18.21m in the final round of the men's triple jump.
Taylor was already in the gold-medal position before his sixth-round effort, one which has only ever been bettered by British great Jonathan Edwards back in 1995.
All three medallists saved their best jump for the final round, with Cuban Pedro Pichardo (17.73m) taking silver and Portugal's Nelson Evora (17.52m) pocketing the bronze.
Anita Wlodarczyk made it a Polish hammer throw double in Beijing by winning the women's event with 80.85m.
Four days earlier, compatriot Pawel Fajdek allegedly paid for a taxi ride with his men's hammer gold medal after a drunken celebration.
Fajdek denied the reports by local media.
