Jamaican super sprinter Usain Bolt will start the Olympic season at a May 14 meet in the Cayman Islands.
Local organisers and the ruling body IAAF said late on Tuesday that Bolt would run the 100 metres and that American women's sprint star Allyson Felix would also compete at the Cayman Invitational in George Town.
"It will be my first international competition in 2016 ... I always enjoy competing in the Caribbean and look forward to meeting my fans in Cayman," Bolt was quoted as saying in the statement.
Bolt, 29, is seeking a historic Olympic sprint treble at the August Games in Rio de Janeiro, following 100m, 200m and 4x100m golds in 2008 in Beijing and in 2012 in London.
The May race will be his first 100m since winning the 100m last year in Beijing for one of his now 11 world titles.
Bolt, hampered by an ankle problem in January, has also confirmed he will compete at home in Kingston on June 11 (400m) and at the July 22 Diamond League meet in London.
