Almost 300 passengers on a Thai Airways plane bound for Phuket had to disembark in Stockholm after a bomb threat.

A plane bound for Thailand has been evacuated at Stockholm's Arlanda airport after a bomb threat.

Almost 300 passengers on the Thai Airways plane bound for the resort city of Phuket had to disembark and police temporarily closed off two gates early on Friday.

The plane had just left the gate when it was stopped.

Initially, travellers were told there was a technical fault, passenger Ulrika Sten was quoted as telling the online edition of Stockholm daily Svenska Dagbladet.

The plane had been moved to a different part of the airport where bomb disposal experts were to inspect it, police said.

Airport operator Swedavia said the incident had not affected other flights.
