Essendon have delisted veteran AFL midfielder Heath Hocking after a tough return from the club's well-documented doping ban.
The Bombers on Friday confirmed that 29-year-old Hocking would not be offered a contract for next season.
Hocking was the first of 10 Bombers to confirm their return to the club after serving 12-month bans related to Essendon's supplements saga.
But he was unable to cement his spot in the side, making just two appearances in 2017 to take his career tally to 126 games.
"Heath has been a wonderful player and highly respected Essendon person over a long period of time," Essendon football boss Rob Kerr said on Friday.
"On behalf of everyone at the club, we wish Heath all the very best for the future."
After being knocked out of the finals in brutal fashion by Sydney last week, the Bombers will look to revitalise their list over the off-season.
Former skipper Jobe Watson, long-serving midfielder Brent Stanton, and former Geelong premiership player James Kelly all announced their retirements before the Bombers' finals exit.
