Bombers investigate AFL racism claim

Essendon are looking into an allegation that one of their members racially abused indigenous Bombers players.

Essendon are investigating a claim that one of their members racially abused Bombers indigenous players during Saturday's Dreamtime at the 'G match.

The club was made aware of the alleged incident on Monday after a fan who claimed to be near the person in the MCG crowd posted about it on Facebook.

The post alleges a female wearing a Bombers scarf called the indigenous Essendon players "little B**** C****" (sic) during the clash with Richmond.

"Name and shame - this thing was sitting behind us at the football tonight and was so abusive towards her own teams (sic) indigenous players," the post reads.

It also says the woman abused other fans when she was challenged about her language.

"Have another drink love you should be ashamed of your self (sic)," the post concludes.

The person behind the Facebook post contacted the club on Monday, and Essendon have confirmed they are investigating a complaint that one of their members engaged in antisocial behaviour during Saturday night's game.

If the allegation is proved, the fan would probably lose her membership immediately.

The Dreamtime at the 'G game is the centrepiece of the AFL's Sir Doug Nicholls indigenous-themed round.
