Boomers sweep into Asia Cup quarters

Australia have continued their unbeaten inaugural Asia Cup campaign, soaring into the quarter-finals with a 90-50 thrashing of Chinese Taipei.

Australia have completed a clean sweep of their group games at the Asia Cup in Lebanon, advancing to the quarter-finals after a 90-50 win over Chinese Taipei.

The Boomers, who have already beaten Japan and Hong Kong in their first appearance at the tournament, now have until Thursday to prepare for their last-eight showdown against an opponent yet to be determined.

Despite missing Matt Hodgson and David Andersen, who was forced to return to Australia with a shoulder injury, the Boomers dominated the stats but a 14 per cent return from long range will concern coach Andrej Lemanis.

Mitch Creek topped the scoring for Australia with 22 points while Mitch McCarron chopped in with 11 alongside nine rebounds.
