Boral gets US nod for Headwaters takeover

Boral has cleared the final regulatory hurdle to merge its existing US business with takeover target Headwaters and create a new North America division.

Building materials supplier Boral has received final US approval for its $US2.6 billion ($A3.5 billion) acquisition of American firm Headwaters Incorporated and expects to wrap up the deal in two business days.

The US Federal Trade Commission approved the deal, which will result in Headwaters merging with Boral's existing US business to create a new division called Boral North America.

Boral said it expects the new division to significant contribute to the wider group's earnings.
