The son of the stood-aside head of Australian Border Force has walked from court after being fined $500 for possessing drugs in Brisbane.
Roman Quaedvlieg's son Che was caught with a small bag of ecstasy crystals at Boondal Entertainment Centre on the night of December 6.
He was charged after patrolling police, who believed the 33-year-old was under the influence of drugs, searched him and his three friends, Brisbane Magistrates Court heard on Wednesday.
During a brief appearance, he pleaded guilty to a charge of drug possession and said there was no excuse for what he had done.
"I just want to apologise for my actions," he said.
Quaedvlieg told the court he had lost an eight-month-old son to SIDS and had become addicted to painkillers during the past year.
"The last 12 months hasn't exactly been smooth sailing," he said.
His father went on leave last May on full pay as allegations he helped arrange a job at Sydney airport for his girlfriend are investigated.
